We won’t be able to confirm the fitting until May when we commission the boat/mast but we are confident that all will be well.

By the way I’ve been using the smaller of the two spinnakers you made me last year extensively and have had significant success, winning a 180nm offshore race and a 275 nm offshore race. Only had its first (very small) hole this weekend. I’m not rated for the bigger spinnaker so it only gets used for performance handicap racing. Very happy with them.

I am replying to our last correspondence several years ago. I order a main and jib from you when I was in Sydney on Dancyn. Would you believe I am in Mobil Alabama! not only did the sails make it but the boat and myself seemed to survive. Recap:Sydney-SPac-Australia again to work-Great Barrier reef-Darwin-Indonesia_Thailand for a year chartering-Sumatra-Chagos-Madagascar-Mozambique-South Africa/Cape of Goodhope-Brazil(loved it!)-Caribbean-Cuba-Mobil(anti-climatic isn't it?). Anyhow the sails are shot as they should be after those miles, but they got me home! Now guess what..It is time for a new set or at least a new main. Any way you can send me the exact sails you made for me last time? They were perfect! I am working in Alaska now but will be back in 2 weeks. Perhaps then we can chat over the phone. If you are ever over in Mobil there is a sail and rum drink for you on DANCYN. You took a guy who knew nothing about sails and walked him through with out a glitch, and I got home safely Thanks

Thank you for the advice that my sail has been shipped and for copies of the associated papers.

The sail was delivered to my house on 17th July, four days after leaving Hong Kong and the day after I arrived in Muscat.
Customs dues amounted to only USD 11 on the invoice price shown which was most agreeable.

The sail appears to be as ordered and I hope to test it tomorrow if we can find some wind in the Indian Ocean off Muscat.

Dear Melissa and Brad,

In the excitement I forgot to thank you for the excellent service you provide.

The sail was manufactured in 5-6 weeks as you had stated up front
being the busy season. The sail arrived in Martinique on the exact
date you indicated. The sail was shipped to a "boat in transit" and
there were no taxes or duty of any kind. Yes, that means zero $ !!

All I had to pay was a 15$ storage fee as I picked up the sail a few
days later as I was in St-Lucia when it arrived!

The sail is magnificent! Excellent workmanship (I bought sails from
North, Doyle, Neil Pride ans some local shop in the past and none were
better, most were of lower quality) and to the exact measurements I
provided. It fits perfectly, and sails so much better that the old
main it is replacing, making it worth every dollars invested. Your
price was half that of the best quote I got in Martinique, and you did
not try to sell me something I did not need. I got excellent advices
from you all and I really appreciate this.

Fantastic sail, fantastic service, fantastic price, cheap and fast
delivery, what else can one asks ?  Maybe a photo of Brad and Melissa
on the website  ;-)

I received the sails and set them up yesterday. They look nice and match my requirements I am glad having taking my time for taking accurate measurements. A small issue, the headboard track slide which is too big and doesn't fit into the mast groove, but I can probably trim and adjust it. (not a big deal!)
Weather conditions were pretty harsh and I  used the genoa entirely stretched just a few minutes then needed to furl it  . I used main sail first reefing block which worked ok.
Since I am going to travel, I will write a full review in a couple of weeks.

Hello Brad,

Our Genoa now was first time set on our boat and I like to give a short feedback.

Four days after delivered in Hongkong the Sail arrived by FedEx.

Tax and custom was at low range and could be paid to FedEx directly. Very easy.

Our boat stays at the Adriatic and we have been there the last few days. (sunny but cold winds, 4 to 7 degree)

What we want to have was a robust sail also for stronger winds and to keep it set over a longer period in Summer.

Due the cloth is stronger than the old one the sail looks like double than the old (wow). The sun protection covers the leech and looks fine (exactly same color as our spray hood) and the triple stitches, the clew and head reinforcement makes a good impression. The sail fits exactly to the rig, clew is in the right position for sheeting and it is easy to furl. I am very happy with the sail, it is exactly what I want.

I like to thank You and your crew very much for the easy and certain way to handle the order.

When I am searching for a main sail for my boat – in the next few years – I will be pleased to contact you again.

The sail arrived with one day to spare before the regatta, that was very much appreciated.
 
Out of four races, we used it in two. 
 
During the second race, we won with both line honours and handicap results.  We won by so much, we were then handicapped out of the rest of the series, best race ever.
 
Am delighted with the sail, and had many other skippers asking about it.
 
Only flaw in the entire purchase was the sail bag.  Sadly the bag I received, no matter how ferocious we tried to pack it, would take no more than 1/3 of the sail.  I ended up borrowing a sail bag which was close to four times larger and only just took the entire sail then.  The bag is that small that in order to put this sail in it would defy all laws of physics.
 
But despite that mishap, again I can only say thankyou for a great kite.

Received sails Friday 10th September just before we travelled for the weekend to our son's wedding. So have only opened them today Monday the 13th, and have looked at the jib and foregaff in the confines of our lounge, ( it is hail, rain and full gale here ).
I t may be some weeks before I am able to hoist them because of work required on masts and standing rigging. But, I would like to say how pleased I am with the workmanship, it could not have been better had I been stood at the elbow of the sailmaker.Please pass our thanks on your sailmakers!

I received the new Mainsail in Tahiti, without any problems.  Customs was fine and I am very pleased with the speed of delivery.  The new Mainsail was a perfect fit according to the information I sent you.  I have the opportunity to sail with the new sail and I am very pleased with its shape and performance.  I am also able to hoist it fully by hand and need only a few cranks of the winch handle to bring it up tight, something I couldn't do with the heavy old sail.

Brad - Fareast Sails,

On a recent visit from Ireland my friend Dermot with hivarengineering informed me of his recent purchase of a great quality sail at a great price for his 36 foot sail boat from you.

He has forwarded to me a copy of all the communications and details with you re that purchase.

I have, as a hobby here in Sausalito, CA. where I live, an 83 foot, cutter rig, 50 ton old wooden sail boat in need of a new mainsail and genoa jib, plus possibly other sails later.

The mainsail has approximately an 86 foot luff and about a 39 foot foot, all with old merriman bronze track slides, reuseable large headboard and tack and clew rings, I have still in good condition from my old main made in 1958 by Kenneth Watts in Los Angeles.

The mast is 103 feet, 7 below deck and 96 above all strong and sound ready for a new mainsail to be sailed in the strong winds of the San Francisco bay.

Fareastsails appears to be very capable of building sails of this size and weight.

Are you desirous of giving me details and/or a quote on the above?

Sail arrived Paphos Mon 23, I collected it Tue 24 and sailed the boat with
it Wed 25. Sailed for 5 hrs on mains'l alone, in winds of 10 - 15 kts, all
points of sail and got speeds of 3.5 to 5.5 kts, most of it with one reef
in. Looks like a pretty good sail. Many thanks.

I tried out the new mainsail at the weekend and was very pleased with
the results. The sail fits perfectly and performed well in very gusty
conditions up to force 6, for my first sail of the season down the Clyde
to my mooring, without any problems and has transformed the performance
of my boat. The reefing points and loose foot all worked well. Just one
small point do you have any tips for removing the creases caused by
folding for transport.

Well I finally got to unpack the sail and fit to the yacht. It is a very nice job and I can find no fault, (although I have not been to sea with it yet)

It is about 500mm short in height and about the same on the boom. This is no problem as in time I imagine there will be a little stretch and better to be a little short than too long. I still need to get the battens made, other wise I am ready to go on my trip to NZ, Tonga, Cook Is & Fiji.

I received my sails just in time for summer holidays, and I am most
satisfied with shape, workmanship, detals, and our communication during the
ordering process. See pictures over - the sails were brand new, and tne
seems had not yet set themselves.  But - you see 2 very flat sail.  The main
gets more depth forward with a little more wind. I only had about 10 knots
of headwin when picturs was taken.  Compared to old sails:  more speed, less
heel!  

Also customs was easily dealt with - as you indicated.  Thank you!!

Sailorman 4000 batten boxes and sliders are 1. class.  Highly recommended.

Now there are some minor detail - party just recommendations to you based on
my experience (which includes a complete Whitbread so I may be a bit
critical..)

 I just received my new sail by Fedex, unbelievable how quick it was!

I opened the box and everything was well pack, I unfold the sail and it looked good for a quick visual check, all the detail and the measurement are exactly what we approved.

Just wanted to let you know that my new sail arrived this morning. I unpacked her and spread her out for a fine tooth comb inspection. I must say, I was quite impressed with the quality and workmanship. Kudos to the sail makers.

I hauled her up, and after a few adjustments to the rigging, she fit like a glove. She was tighter than a prom queen on homecoming night! And delivery.....Half way around the world in less than 24 hours. WHAT!? I was amazed. You were 4 days earlier than the expected completion date. Amazing!

Even though I do sail and canvas work, I could not beat your price for just the sail kit from Sailrite. Now you have me thinking about a new Genoa. I'll let you know.

The sails arrived late last week in good condition. Thank you. On Saturday I fitted the Genoa to the boat. It is perfect.
I have not fitted the Main as yet because I am trying to buy battens for it. No point putting it on the boat till I do that.
Wind conditions here on Saturday were about 10 to 12 knots NE to SE. With the new Genoa and the old Main (a very tired sail),
the boat made 6.5 knots to windward. Not bad for a 12 ton wooden sloop.
 
I will not need to fit sail tracks as the headsail sheets very nicely from blocks fitted in two positions on the gunwhale,
one for on the wind, one for off the wind. The clew of the sail sets about 1.2  metres above the deck,
which allows for good visibility under the sail. The sail has an excellent shape and I think I will be able to carry it in winds up to 25kts without furling.
 
I will let you know how the Main fits and performs, but so far so good with the measurements and the making. Please pass my compliments to
the sailmakers.
 
The next step may be an MPS, something big, light, and easy to handle with a small crew. I would be interested to know what you think.

I couldn't believe my eyes when the FedEx truck arrived this morning with my sail!  All the way from Hong Kong, and it left there on Tuesday of this week?  I wasn't expecting it for at least another week or two.
 
First impression ... IT'S BEAUTIFUL!  To be sure, right now it's only partially unfolded on my living room floor, but from what I can see, the workmanship is excellent, and the Pearson 30 logo and numbers are perfect ... colors and all.
 
I can't wait to hoist it and have a better look then, but first I'll have to get the boat in the water.  I'll let you know more later, but so far ... thanks so much, it looks great!

Code 1:
For light air reaching. It is for basically the same conditions as what you now know as a VMG spinnaker, going downwind in conditions light enough that you have to sail tighter apparent wind angles, 60 to 90 degrees apparent.

Code 2:
Medium air running. It is used in the same conditions as a symmetrical AP spinnaker, 90 to 135 degrees apparent, for going downwind from 8 knots to 20 knots.

Code 3:
Medium air reaching spinnaker. Used for reaching in 10 to 20 knots apparent, the wind angle where you can carry it will vary with wind speed but generally between 70 and 110 degrees apparent.

Code 4:
Heavy air runner. Full size, used for running in 20 to 30 knots.

Code 5:
Heavy air reaching for over 20 knots.

Code 6:
Storm runner for over 30 knots.

Code 0:
The Code 0 is a specialty tight reaching sail, and can also double as a heavy air spinnaker. Current rules require the midgirth to be at least 75% of the foot, which is meant to prevent making a 180% genoa and calling it a spinnaker. (On a genoa the midgirth has to be 50% or less of the foot) They are made with the luff as close to straight as possible, and the shape as flat as possible, without having so much roach on the leech that it flaps too much. In light air they can be flown with an apparent wind angle as tight as 40 degrees.
